Student Portrait

I would like to introduce myself as a doctoral student applying for a Zomia loan. As a highly motivated and organized individual, I am confident in my ability to succeed as a Zomia student.

I finished my last program in 2021, when I earned a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Padang State University in Padang City, West Sumatra, Indonesia. I am a trained educator with experience teaching multiple grade levels, and I am currently conducting teacher training for young lecturers in my department at the university.

In addition, I am conducting research on higher education in Myanmar. As a YSEALI Vietnam grant recipient, my team is running a project called the Citizen Science Online Course for teachers.

As an educational leader, I enjoy working with younger generations. I believe that education and youth go hand in hand. Just as a strong building depends on a solid foundation, a country’s future depends on how well we educate its young people.

To support this, I have been conducting teacher training programs for young educators from different ethnic groups in rural and regional areas, organized by Buddhist monastic schools and Christian churches. Through these trainings, I have observed that many communities struggle to access quality education.

Everyone, regardless of gender, religion, ethnicity, or disability, deserves access to good education. Witnessing these challenges has strengthened my commitment to working for my community and improving educational opportunities.

To achieve this goal, I have decided to enroll in a doctoral program that will provide me with the tools and strategies to enhance my leadership skills and become a more effective education leader.

After completing this program, I intend to work with individuals who face life challenges, including depression, trauma, and mental health issues. I aim to support them with openness and respect, build trust, and encourage them to share their experiences.

By applying the leadership skills and cultural awareness I gain, I hope to contribute to building a stronger and more supportive community.
