Student Portrait

My name is Bee, and my life story is shaped by resilience, responsibility, and a passion for language and communication.

I was born in a small town in Myanmar, where limited resources and social challenges shaped my understanding of perseverance from an early age. I was raised by my grandparents, who became my strongest support system in an environment affected by family instability and social stigma. From them, I learned that education is not only a path to success, but also a way to redefine one’s future.

Because of family challenges, including domestic violence and social discrimination linked to my parents’ circumstances, I understood very early that education was not just a pathway to success for me, but a form of survival. My grandparents consistently reminded me that my future did not have to be defined by my background.

My grandmother, in particular, often told me that I was her greatest hope and that her wish was to see me graduate before she passed away. Her words continue to guide my determination.

My interest in communication began in childhood. When foreign visitors came to my town, I eagerly tried to speak with them using my limited English, proudly explaining our local culture and traditions. As I grew older, this curiosity turned into a dream: to communicate across cultures and represent my community with confidence.

After finishing high school, I began studying Statistics at Monywa University of Economics. While I valued the discipline the field required, I gradually realized that my true interest lay not in numbers but in people, stories, and expression. I began participating in speech and debate competitions, which helped me build confidence, critical thinking, and the ability to articulate ideas clearly.

This realization led to a turning point. I decided to enroll in the Thai Language and Culture for Foreigners program at Mae Fah Luang University in Thailand.

Studying in a multicultural environment deepened my intercultural understanding and refined my communication skills. I also served as Master of Ceremonies for international student orientation programs and external university events, which confirmed my aspiration to become a multilingual presenter who connects people through language and culture.

Alongside my studies, I have faced significant financial challenges. Since my first year, I have been completely self-funded, working as a freelance English teacher, education consultant, and customer service staff. Balancing academics with work required discipline and sacrifice. I learned to overcome the resulting loneliness and exhaustion by creating a structured schedule and gradually engaging in university activities.

As the first person from my community to study abroad, I am often approached by younger students and their parents for guidance. I listen to their concerns, help clarify goals, and share realistic advice based on my own experience. Knowing that my support helps others gain confidence gives my journey deeper meaning.

My dream is to become a professional presenter who speaks multiple languages and uses media to inspire young people, especially girls from disadvantaged backgrounds, to pursue education. Coming from a rural area with limited access to resources and technology, I understand how difficult that journey can be. My life story is not only about overcoming hardship, but about finding my voice and using it to empower others.
