Student Portrait

My name is Briyan. I was born and raised in Myanmar. Since I was young, I have been drawn to science and aspired to become an engineer. During high school, I studied calculus and physics, achieving strong grades, particularly in topics related to electric fields.

In my first year at my previous university, I studied fundamental engineering subjects and the basic principles of ship design. I came to understand that a ship’s electrical system occupies one of the most critical positions in its technical hierarchy, and that electricity underpins every system we rely on in daily life. This realization deepened my passion for electrical engineering, which I had been building through practical physics experiments throughout my academic years.

After researching universities that could support my goals, I found that King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) was a strong fit. I applied and received a full tuition waiver for the Electrical Engineering International program. I attended all my lectures, submitted assignments on time, and was selected as class monitor, a role that pushed me to motivate and support my classmates.

I took on leadership roles in class projects and university activities, including the Innovative Projects Show and sports events, and joined the Football Sports Club. I served on the student committee, where I worked on complex problems and sharpened my critical thinking. I was also selected for a study visit to Regards Engineering Co., Ltd with a team of five students, an experience that broadened my communication skills and exposure to industry practice.

Beyond academics, I volunteered in several organizations and served as a peer educator in the English Club at my previous university. I participated in KMUTNB activities including the Cleaning Campus campaign, a study trip to Kanchanaburi, football tournaments, and the TGGS and RWTH Alumni Reunion from Aachen University, where I had the chance to meet professionals from diverse educational backgrounds.

As the only child in my family, I have learned to manage myself well and take time management seriously. My passion for electrical engineering has only grown stronger with each year of study.

Upon graduating from KMUTNB, I plan to return to Myanmar and work as an entry-level electrical engineer. There is much I can learn from Thai and German technologies at my university, and I want to bring those techniques back to my community. I genuinely believe that education can shape a nation, and I hope to help build a better society for Myanmar, whether in urban or rural areas.
