My name is Nan, and my passion for architecture originates from its power to transform communities, one building at a time. I have been accepted into the Architecture program at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) in Thailand, and I am overjoyed to begin this chapter of my life.
The desire to be an architect has been with me since childhood. I spent my pocket money on Lego blocks, photographed and sketched every baroque building I encountered, and was endlessly curious about how magnificent structures are made. I see architecture as a field that combines art and science, allowing me to create, excavate history, and solve social problems at the same time. I have taken architectural courses and recently had the opportunity to exhibit at the Vision Art Gallery after ranking among the top three students at the New Vision Art and Design Institute.
Throughout my academic journey, I have maintained an excellent GPA while engaging in artistic activities and earning several awards. I served as class president in most of my classes and volunteered as a teacher and librarian at a charity school, developing the leadership and collaborative skills I believe are essential in architecture.
Some say studying architecture is exhausting. For me, it gives my life significance. It is intoxicating, like youthful love. I often forget to eat and sleep when immersed in a project. The more I learn, the more I want to know.
My ambition is to become an architect who designs iconic buildings that are environmentally sustainable and accessible to all. I want to prioritize affordable housing and public spaces, and to use my skills to make a positive difference in Myanmar and beyond.
There is a saying among young people in Myanmar: “Dreams are expensive.” This holds true for me.

My parents run a small convenience store that cannot cover my tuition and living expenses, and Myanmar’s ongoing economic crisis and rising exchange rates have made the financial burden increasingly difficult to manage.
I am confident that with the education I will receive at KMUTT and Zomia’s support, I can achieve my dream. Once I succeed, I want to support disadvantaged children with the potential to become architects, just as I am one of those children right now. I promise to give everything I have, and I am ready to open the gate to the future of architecture.
